Beethoven's Kreutzer Sonata changed forever the way sonatas for violin and piano were written. In the season finale, we will hear the phenomenal violinist Hana Mundiya perfroming both the Kreutzer Sonata and also the iconic violin sonata by Cesar Franck. Per Tengstrand joins her at the Steinway in an evening which with two of the best works written for violin and piano.

After winning 1st prize in Cleveland’s International Piano Competition, Per Tengstrand has performed in venues such as the Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, the big hall of the Musikverein Vienna, Gewandhaus in Leipzig, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo. He has performed as a soloist with the Detroit Symphony, National Symphony in Washington D.C., Japan Philharmonic, Orchestra de la Suisse Romande, Singapore Symphony, and Orchestre National de France. He is the recipient of the Royal Medal of Litterus and Artibus, which he received from the King of Sweden. His debut film "Beethoven - Freedom of the Will", featuring among others violinist Hana Mundiya, won international awards such as the Silver Medal for Best Inspirational Film at Tokyo Film Awards, and the prize for Best Documentary at the Swedish International Film Festival. Since 2017, he has collaborated with the chamber group "Opus" at Princeton University, guiding young musicians and inviting them to perform in his New York series as well as in Sweden. When Per is not traveling he trains figure skating six days a week.
